As hard as they come
All new Triton is the only ute to bring you a 10 year warranty. From the ground up, it’s been designed for reliability and durability. It has a brand new body, all-new engine and a new, improved 4WD system with dial up range selector. There’s the choice of 2 new transmissions; 6 speed manual transmission or new 5 speed automatic. New Triton tows up to 3.1 tonnes, so whether you’re at work, or out on the weekend with the boat, Triton has the power to get the job done easily, safely and smoothly. As well as impressive torque and smooth power, it also has incredible economy of 7.0L to 7.6L per 100km across the whole range.
- Class leading interior
- Class leading fuel economy
- Class leading torque to weight ratio
- Class leading turning circle
- Class leading 4WD system
- Heavy weight of towing
Here’s the reason Triton makes light work of heavy loads. It’s the newly developed 2.4L, all alloy DiD MIVEC engine. On the technical side, torque is now increased - up to 23% on automatic models. At lower revs, torque is delivered more smoothly, which is just as well when you’ve got this much of it. On the less technical side, it’s basically one seriously grunty engine.
The 2.4L MIVEC intercooled turbo diesel engine cranks out a massive 135kW of power and 437Nm of torque. This creates a hefty 3,100kg braked towing capacity and payload of 960kg.
Club cab is back! The all new Triton club cab has rear opening doors to make getting in and out of the vehicle easier.
A vehicle with the power to carry large loads over anything should give you a place to put it. Triton now boasts a tray 10% larger than before, one of the longest, deepest trays in its class. If you can’t fit your load in here, the problem’s your forklift.
Tight turning circle
Manoeuvrability is key in a ute whether you’re on the farm, worksite or around town. Triton’s turning circle is a very compact 11.8 metres.
Many gearbox options
Just like the choice of body types and accessories, Triton’s gearbox options let you put together a vehicle for your exact needs. Triton GLS offers a new 6 speed manual and 5 speed automatic with dial up 2WD/4WD range selector, sports mode and paddle shifts. The sports mode setting enables the automatic to function like a manual, but without a clutch. This makes for near-instant gear changes, great on slippery surfaces.
Mitsubishi’s Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution body design, or RISE, makes Triton stiff and, therefore, safer in a collision. It means that the cabin area keeps its shape, while energy of the impact is transferred away. A stiff chassis also makes for better driving and handling of large loads.
Mitsubishi All Terrain Technology, commonly known as MATT, is a combination of traction systems. It’s what enables Triton to tow, haul and operate in all terrains, just as the name implies. It’s something that we developed in the Paris–Dakar rally. It worked so well it made sense to put it on our other vehicles. On or off-road, there’s no surer way of keeping control.
ATC reacts immediately to loss of traction, maintaining your line around a corner or obstacle. If a wheel slips, ATC applies brake force to that wheel and sends power to the others. It means you keep traction on even the loosest surface. Now, there’s also a new off-road mode to keep you safer in the worst conditions.
To combat over- or under-steer, this system senses when to apply brakeforce or engine power to each wheel independently. This keeps you on the best and safest line through a corner. You wouldn’t want to hit the road or track without it.
This system lets you steer away from danger while you brake hard. The EBD side of things senses the vehicle attitude and the surface you’re on and sends the optimal amount of brakeforce to each wheel. It’s the best way to avoid unexpected hazards.
Trailers tend to be unstable things. Mitsubishi’s Trailer Stability Assist system brings them back into line. Sensors detect sway, brakeforce is applied to the appropriate wheel and engine power is adjusted to stabilise the motion. The stop lamp is illuminated while the brake control of Trailer Stability Assist System operates.
Wherever you get to in your Triton, the R/D Lock button gets you out (GLX double cab only). It engages the Rear Diff Lock, which sends equal power to both back wheels, keeping them turning and, more importantly, gripping in even the slushiest conditions.
New Triton gives you 7 airbags across the range, including a new driver’s knee airbag. These airbags are dual-stage, which is the safest, most effective way to inflate the airbags and lessen injury.
If you need to place a child restrain in the front, you can deactivate the passenger airbag with the key mechanism in the glove box.
New Triton double cab models have ISOFIX system in the rear seats for safely securing child seats.
With the remarkable engine on board, Triton goes. Thanks to big ventilated front disc and rear drum brakes, it stops just as well.
To ensure you don’t go over the speed limit when you’re on the road, all-new Triton features a driver adjustable speed limiter.
Daytime running lights (DRLs) & high intensity discharge (HID) headlamps.
New Triton features our best headlight design ever. The Super Wide High Intensity Discharge headlamps on GLS models spray the light over a wide area. It means more safety and an easier drive, with the added safety of LED daytime running Lights.
All double cab wellside models feature a reversing camera for safety when you’re moving backwards and visibility is limited.
Here’s another innovative feature that’s there just in case. If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as your brake in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake system spots the error, cancels out the message from the gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.
This technology makes it easier to start off a steep uphill slope by preventing the vehicle from rolling backwards. It maintains the braking force for two seconds while you move your foot from the brake to the accelerator.
Super Select 4WD on Triton GLS
All-new Triton is one of the few utes that can be driven in 4WD on tar seal. This gives you the maximum amount of grip and, of course, safety.
This models is upgraded with a new centre diff , giving a 60/40 torque split for improved on road handling. The low range is now 25% lower, and when you’re crawling on a loose surface in low gear and range, you’ll appreciate the difference.
Easy Select 4WD on Triton GLX
Like the Super Select 4WD system, Easy Select allows you to change traction modes on the move. The three settings give you ultimate economy from 2WD, right down to serious stump-pulling low range 4WD, which is now enhanced with new capabilities.
When 4LL is selected, traction control is change to off-road mode for optimal traction in off road driving environments.
After a day of serious slog you’ll enjoy stepping, or collapsing, into new Triton’s supremely comfortable interior. Everywhere you look, or sit, you’ll find advanced, redesigned features. Every model offers new sports bucket seats, which are wider and more supportive. You’ll find long drives are no effort at all. You’ll also find them much quieter. The cabin is the perfect environment to enjoy music or footy commentary, from the radio and CD player audio system. The GLS offers a 6-speaker stereo with MP3 compatibility and audio jack. Visibility is excellent, with large well-positioned windows.
All-new Triton has extra space where you need it most. There’s more leg and head room, plus more foot space under the front seats. In fact, the cabin itself is bigger in just about every direction. Have yourself a seat and you’ll see what we mean.
All double cab Tritons feature a smart new touch screen. This screen puts all kinds of useful info at your fingertips such as on GLS models. All double cab wellside models feature a 6” touch screen with reversing camera. All models are USB compatible, making it easy to play the sounds you want.
To top it all off, new Triton GLS is fully equipped with rain sensing wipers & automatic headlights, push button start, and dual zone air con. You’ll barely have to lift a finger.
GLS models feature the ease of keyless entry, ideal when you have got your arms full. The same button on the key also activates the engine immobiliser.
