It’s sharp, it’s street smart, and it’s everything you need. It’s ASX, where sleek styling and smooth driving come together in a very handsome crossover.
ASX also combines high levels of safety, technology and performance with excellent economy. It’s essential equipment for any active lifestyle or urban adventure seekers.
All models of ASX now feature daytime running LEDs for increased visibility and safety. They also create a sophisticated impression on the road and highlight ASX's sharp styling at the front end.
This model features the new Smartphone Link Display Audio (SDA). This system integrates communication, music and map apps from your compatible Smartphone. Simply click in the USB cable and phone calls, navigation, music and messages are right there on the built-in display screen. Voice command lets you keep your focus on the road, and maps are automatically updated from your phone. You can also play music and make calls via Bluetooth.
The 6.1 inch touch-screen on all ASX models puts the audio controls at your fingertips. It’s also your reversing camera and BluetoothTM handsfree phone.
Choose the engine and driveline to suite your lifestyle. ASX offers two engines options which both provide an excellent balance of driveability and economy to compliment perfectly the 2WD or AWD ASX you choose.
ASX boasts the sharpest turning circle in its class, ideal for city streets, weaving through carparks or nabbing the spot right outside the café. And thanks to the effortless power steering, manoeuvrability is a dream, even when fully loaded.
As with all aspects of ASX, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to the engine. 2WD models come equipped with the 2.0 L DOHC MIVEC petrol engine. What that means in English is an engine that will whisk you up to highway speeds, but is small and efficient enough to be frugal at the pump. The economy figures say it all, with 7.4L/100Km and emissions of 172g/Km.
AWD models take advantage of a 2.2L Intercooled Turbo Diesel with an impressive 6.0 L per 100Km. With a huge torque figure of 366NM and 112kW of power it's ready to take you from the city and up the ski slopes with ease.
The ASX range brings you Mitsubishi’s proven transmission and drivetrain options. The INVECS III transmission in a 6 speed CVT for 2WD petrol models and 6 speed automatic on AWD diesel models.
CVT is a clever system that uses a belt instead of cogs, so you won’t even feel a gear change as you accelerate. It delivers perfectly smooth acceleration, even better economy and it’s so clever it can ‘learn’ your driving style for a more refined ride.
In the AWD diesel models the 6 speed automatic makes the most of the engines torque by matching the gears perfectly to gain the best performance.
ASX employs an integrated system of active and passive safety features; the result is a 5-star ANCAP safety rating as tested on 2WD models – and one very safe vehicle.
Inside, there are driver and passenger airbags, side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags - seven in total. There are also three-point ELR seatbelts with pre-tensioners, which take up the slack in the belt and then release it gradually.
4WD Auto Conditions have a habit of changing without warning. With 4WD Auto, your traction system changes with them. It improves grip and makes turning smoother.
4WD Lock Sometimes, conditions hit rock-bottom. Or mud-bottom. 4WD Lock gets you out safely.
If you’re on a steep hill, this system applies the brakes for a few seconds while you move your foot from brake to accelerator, preventing roll back. How civilised.
This system is a feature of Active Stability Control and responds immediately to loss of traction. By braking the wheel that’s slipping and sending power to the others, it means you keep the path you intended as you turn or negotiate tricky surfaces.
Maintains stability and control when cornering, by automatically recognising under-steer and over-steer. It applies brakes to the appropriate wheels to keep you online through corners.
This technology reduces stopping distances by detecting passengers or heavier loads and automatically increases rear-braking force.
This allows you to manoeuvre around objects under heavy braking conditions. Outlander’s intelligent 4-channel, 4-sensor braking system works in conjunction with the drive mode to monitor different wheel speeds and activate brakes to individual wheels when required to deliver superior control.
All models come standard with an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS) which flashes the rear high-mount stop light under heavy braking to warn following drivers.
Here's another innovative feature that's there just in case. If you unintentionally hit your accelerator pedal as well as your brake in an emergency situation, the new SmartBrake system spots the error, cancels out the messages from the gas pedal and puts full concentration on your braking.
The tilt and telescopic steering column offers the driver the flexibility of adjusting the steering column to suit their favoured driving position. Electronic Power Steering takes the effort out of driving by providing steering assistance. At low speeds the EPS is light and easy, as speed increases steering becomes solid, delivering a more controlled driving experience.
